Zombie Cuisine was a captivating project involving palette knives, markers, and a fine brush I used to line the fish bones.
This painting stands for the abusive actions we use on a daily basis to serve our need for “so-called” premium seafood. We often forget that those high-class products involve 90% of bycatch that gets thrown back into the ocean. We could call those the lucky ones, or we could call it a disturbing amount of animal cruelty that happens every day. Do not get me wrong, I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I do believe that we humans need to treat our food with respect, and I believe that nothing which is mistreated can be good for our bodies.
Zombie Cuisine describes the lucky ones that are thrown back into the ocean but do not survive due to the injuries and damage sustained during the catching process.
