The Timemachine in Travnik is a retro heaven and a cafe enthusiasts Shangrila

Everything that I would not have expected to find is what has pleasantly surprised me here—a lovely and quiet Room with a huge comfy bed and a beautiful little outside seating area.

Downstairs at the Cafe Bar, I met the friendly staff and a kind owner. The Bar is a fancy cross-over version of retro furniture and modern world amenities. The walls are partly decorated with handwriting and comic-like paintings; a saxophone swings next to an old typewriter, a mobile device charging station with locks for safety, a tuba on the wall across a guitar, and many retro pictures—no chance of entering this wonderful place without a smile.

So, I checked into my new stay, which I booked for a few nights.

Travnik is the city of writers, and I heard that it's famous for its petite but beautiful centre. The town used to be the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1699 until 1850. All this made me curious about my new home for a few nights.

I am standing in front of a round wooden table with a glass cover - the warm sunlight breaks through the windows and lights up the entire room in golden hues.

"I like to be a free spirit. Some don't like that, but that's the way I am."

I last heard or read this famous line many years ago, but here I am, standing in the middle of Bosnia at the Vremeplov Cafe (The Timemachine Cafe).

I see Princess Diana's pictures - it seems like a little shrine for her.

Steps are coming closer, and a kind voice says she visited in the year 1997 Bosnia and Herzegovina to shine a light and raise awareness of the landmine victims.

Several years have passed since then, but one thing is undisputable: compassion and kindness are eternal.

Pictures are everywhere showing the glamour from back in the day - movie stars and singers, old commercials and some beautiful old photos of the wonderful city of Travnik. The Time Machine or Cafe Vremeplov is a lovely place to stay for a few days and enjoy a cold drink after a day of exploring.
